| The term multimedia has come to mean a lot of different things in today's audio-visual
arena. In the computer world, where the term emphasizes the use of more than one external
medium (i.e. CD-ROM, audio, slides and/or video) delivering audio, visual and data
information through a single presentation device - the computer. |

| Dataton, with it's true multimedia product line, has developed a system which instead
allows producers to use the best presentation device (or devices) for the job by enabling
them to control a multitude of such devices from a single platform. Consisting of a series
of modular hardware control units (PAX for slide projectors, TRANSPAX for time coded
synchronization, and SMARTPAX for all serial devices) driven by TRAX3 software, the
Dataton system emphasizes the computer as a managing tool to program, synchronize and
control the multimedia presentation. The devices of that presentation always remain
outside of the computer and can be just about anything including 35mm slides, analog and
digital tape recorders, laser disc players, CD players, video players, MIDI, lighting and
sound consoles - even lasers, robots and other computers. |
