SERIAL SMARTLINKS
Smartlink cables are the hardware interface
between SMARTPAX QC control units and audiovisual devices in
your rig. Each cable plugs into one of four ports on the back
of each SMARTPAX QC unit. The other end of the smartlink cable
connects to the device you want to control.
IR SMARTLINK

The IR SMARTLINK is used with devices that
are controlled via infrared signals. It is designed for
consumer type video and audio devices, but can also be used
for professional pieces of equipment such as video projectors.
Device drivers are available for a range of IR controlled
equipment.

TIMECODE SMARTLINK

The TIMECODE SMARTLINK connects to analog tape devices and
SMPTE/EBU timecode-controlled devices. As the smartlink reads
and sends SMPTE/EBU timecode, it can be used with devices that
can chase lock to an incoming timecode feed, such as lighting
consoles, hard disk audio recorders and other time based
units.

DMX SMARTLINK

This cable is designed to interface SMARTPAX to lighting
control devices and fittings that support the DMX512 protocol.

MAC SMARTLINK

This cable interfaces SMARTPAX to Apple Macintosh computers
via their ADB port. It can be used for controlling
presentation graphics packages such as Microsoft PowerPoint,
Macromedia Director and many others.

MIDI SMARTLINK

The MIDI SMARTLINK is used with MIDI controllable devices
such as synthesizers, sequencers and lighting consoles. It can
also be used as a MIDI input interface from equipment capable
of sending MIDI commands.

EKTAPRO SMARTLINK

The EKTAPRO SMARTLINK is used with Kodak EKTAPRO slide
projector models that incorporate a serial P-Bus connector.
This smartlink can also be used with certain other devices
such as Denon MiniDisc recorders and some Barco video
projectors.

SIMDA SMARTLINK

The SIMDA SMARTLINK is used with TAV Simda 3262/3462
projector models. This smartlink connects to the projector’s
6-pin DIN connector.

SYSTEM IN SMARTLINK

The SYSTEM IN SMARTLINK is used to input data from other
Dataton control units to SMARTPAX. It can be used with
MICTOUCH or AIRLINK RECEIVER.
SYSTEM IN SMARTLINK is included with each AIRLINK RECEIVER
pack and is also available separately.

SYSTEM OUT SMARTLINK

The SYSTEM OUT SMARTLINK is used to feed data from SMARTPAX
QC to early Dataton units, such as the PAX dissolve unit,
TRANSPAX, SERVOPAX and MOTORPAX control units. This enables
compatibility with version 3 or above of Dataton TRAX.

RS232 SMARTLINK

Use the RS232 SMARTLINK with devices that
utilize RS232 command protocol and have a 25-pin D-sub
connector. Examples are Sony UVW 1200/1400 Betacam decks,
laserdisc players and CRV recordable laserdisc machines.

PC SMARTLINK

The PC SMARTLINK is used with IBM compatible
computers to enable control of many presentation graphics
packages. This smartlink is also used for a number of other
devices that support a VT-100 terminal emulator, such as the
Hughes-JVC ILA video projector range.

RS422 SMARTLINK

The RS422 SMARTLINK is used with many types
of audio and video machines, digital effects generators and
video projectors which utilize the RS422 command protocol.
Examples are: Sony UVW 1800 and BVW 75 series Betacam
machines, Sony DFS 500 effects generat or and Sony VPH 1271
video projector.
